Cannon Inn boasts 56 apartments--52 "Cannoneer" one-room and four "Fortress" two-room floor plans. Tenants may choose from rooms already furnished or bring their cherished possessions. A kitchen is included in the "Fortress" apartments. The apartments each have both separate, secured inside entrances and secured outside entrances to private patios, lush wall-to-wall carpeting, vertical blinds, a walk-in closet, a 24-hour monitored emergency alert system, weekly housekeeping, and flat laundry service. The elegantly appointed dining room offers three meals per day, with special dietary services available upon request. More than 30 staff persons serve the tenants and maintain the Inn.
Additional amenities available to the tenants include an in-house post office, exercise room, an expertly staffed style salon and barbershop, and a branch bank on a limited basis during the week. A favorite afternoon stop is the old-fash- ioned ice cream parlor where tenants may indulge in their favorite ice cream cone or savor a freshly popped bag of popcorn. A private party room, the Colonel's Room, provides the tenants a place to entertain guests and family. Various levels of home health care services are available, should the need arise.
Daily events or outings, from bingo and exercise to evenings at local theaters or gatherings for Bible study, are coordinated by the Activities Director. A courtesy van is available for transportation to medical and dental appointments or shopping.
Tossing off the burdens of home maintenance and household routine can bring retiring adults leisure, companionship, and comfort at the stately Cannon Inn.
The Inn's sweeping, dormered roof shelters a cluster of individual apartments, a collection of shops, service facilities, and other amenities for those who, while no longer able to care for their homes, still desire to live as independently as possible. The Inn welcomed its first tenants just before Christmas, 1989.
The luxurious setting beckons tenants and their guests as they enter the softly lit foyer and are greeted by name by its staff. Gracious lounges are located at the turn of every hallway in the four-winged building. Richly upholstered chairs and sofas in beautifully decorated gathering places, many with fireplaces, welcome tenants to relax and discuss the day's events. Cozy solariums await at the end of each corridor. Tenants of the Inn can stroll through the picturesque garden walk and gazebo or browse through the gift shop stocked by local artisans.
