    July 2008

Join us July 15 , 1:00-2:30pm when we will welcome Denise Dugan, Tai Chi instructor at the Wabash Valley Senior Citizens Center.  She learned her skills 10 years ago from a native Chinese woman.  She continued to advance her Tai Chi skills when she travelled to China and was able to do Tai Chi with the Monks.
Tai chi (pronounced "tie chee" is a mind-body practice that originated in China as a martial art. A person practicing tai chi moves her body in a slow, relaxed, and graceful series of movements. In tai chi, each movement flows into the next. The entire body is always in motion, with the movements performed gently and at uniform speed . The movements make up what are called forms (or routines). The movements make up “forms”  (or routines). Some movements are named for animals or birds. The simplest style of tai chi uses 13 movements. Tai Chi can be done by oneself or in a group.
Come listen as Denise describes the physical, spiritual and mental benefits of tai chi and demonstrates first hand how you can do it as well.

Complimentary Refreshments  and door prizes will be served courtesy of  Wabash Independent Living and Learning Center (The W.I.L.L. Center) Terre Haute.
