DINE WITH A DOC TM is an event that welcomes the local senior public to get to know the doctor(s) of the month while enjoying a free luncheon. Each doctor has graciously donated this time in effort to listen, hear, and answer your medical questions while sharing a meal with you. Various community businesses also participate by donating door prizes or providing complimentary lunches for you to enjoy and learn about ways they may help you as well.
We are proud to offer to our senior’s , Dr. Kayur Patel F.A.C.P., a physician who has gone above and beyond to let the community know that he is available to be of service.
Dr. Patel specializes in Emergency medicine.  He holds Specialty Board Certifications with American Board of Internal Medicine, and American Board of Emergency Medicine.  Dr. Patel was appointed as the medical director of the emergency department at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in 2004. He serves as the hospital’s chief medical officer, chairman of HCA–Capital Division Emergency Department Leadership Council, and is medical director for the area’s emergency medical services and a member of the Board of Trustees at Regional Hospital.. (Dr. Patel joined TeamHealth in 2002 and had served as an assistant medical director in Kentucky before his appointment at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.)
His leadership helped the hospital achieve designation as a Chest Pain Center. He conceptualized and put into practice the CARE program; a program which expedites the transfer and care of cardiac patients from outlying hospitals to receive life-saving treatment in Terre Haute Regional Hospital’s catheterization lab within 90 minutes. Dr. Patel initiated a regional educational symposium for emergency medicine professionals. Most recently, he was responsible for ensuring that every Vigo County high school senior meets the new mandatory requirement of basic life support training.
Dr. Kayur Patel, medical director of the emergency department at Terre Haute Regional Hospital, was honored as the Medical Director of the Year for TeamHealth Midwest* (the nation’s largest provider of emergency medicine staffing and management services). He was selected from among TeamHealth emergency department medical directors and assistant medical directors in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota. Dr. Patel received a nomination for the TeamHealth award due to his numerous accomplishments in promoting quicker life-saving treatments for cardiac patients, the development of a medical resource for the area’s work force, and a new educational resource for emergency medicine professionals.   Dr. Kayur Patel has volunteered his time courtesy of TeamHealth at Regional Hospital 3901 S. 7th St. Terre Haute, Indiana 47802.  Phone 812-237-1622.
